PACIFIC OCEAN (Feb. 1, 2019) – Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) soldiers depart the well deck of the amphibious transport dock ship USS Somerset (LPD 25) in a combat rubber raiding craft during Exercise Iron Fist 2019. Exercise Iron Fist 2019 is an annual, multilateral training exercise where U.S. and Japanese service members train together, share techniques, tactics and procedures to improve their combine operational capabilities.
