The Avenger-class mine countermeasures ship, the USS Chief
SASEBO, Japan (July 3, 2014) - The Avenger-class mine countermeasures ship, the USS Chief (MCM 14) is hauled from an Eide Marine Services cargo ship at Commander Fleet Activities Sasebo (CFAS). The USS Chief, as well as the Avenger-class mine countermeasure ship the USS Pioneer (MCM 9), was moved to CFAS where they will conduct a hull swap with the Avenger-class mine countermeasures ships USS Avenger (MCM 1) and USS Defender (MCM 2).
