>> this work existed as both an entrepreneurial endeavor selling handmade copies of luxury commodities and as a mildly subversive spam/meditation on the fetishism of the commodity. As a networked project, it utilized a number of different forms, formats, and spaces including: The group exhibition Transactions curated by Kelly Baum for the Blanton Museum of Art, Austin, TX. September 11 - November 18, 2007 and a temporary e-commerce website [Untitled Project: STORE] that sold carved and painted sculptures of luxury watches set in display boxes. This website was only accessible through the direct link provided by a series of weekly spam emails which portrayed a painted image advertising luxury watches along with selected specific texts taken from Karl Marx’s Capital, Volume I (1867).
