A United Nations report released on Wednesday said that female teachers are urgently needed to boost the education of girls in Afghanistan, which has the highest level of gender disparity in the world. “In Afghanistan, female teachers are vital for girls to be able to enroll in school, but women face cultural barriers in seeking work in areas where they are not chaperoned by family members,” said the ‘Education for All Global Monitoring Report,’ released globally by the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). With 71 girls in school for every 100 boys, Afghanistan is one of the countries with very high disparities at the expense of girls, the report noted. For more: bit.ly/L8xOHA
