The elf’s eyes found him, and his lips trembled with the effort to form words.
“Harry… Potter…”
And then with a little shudder the elf became quite still, and his eyes were nothing more than great glassy orbs, sprinkled with light from the stars they could not see.

This was by and far the saddest part of the book for me. It sounds cliché, but I remember reading the words above for the first time, and the big, salty and wistful tears rolling down the sides of my cheeks. Dobby was the best. My favourite, in fact.
I made the vignette here to be very plain and simple but I forgot why. Every time I think about this scene I can’t keep track of my thoughts, it’s just so sad. So, I guess, please enjoy. Dobby, despite your fictional existence, you are a hero, and may we all aspire to be like you.
