Aguada Fort and Lighthouse in Goa
Aguada Fort is the most popular Fort in Goa, built in 17 century by the then Portuguese rulers. “Aguada” in Portuguese language means “watering place” and the fort was built to provide fresh water to the ships passing by Arabian sea. The fort is maintained by Archaeological Survey of India and remains open from 8.30 AM to 5.30 PM. Entry is free. The old lighthouse is there at the center of the Fort. The fort is just by the side of the sea. If you stand on the walls of the fort you can see the long stretching sea. Apart from Aguada fort we also visited other forts like Sinquerim Fort, Chapora Fort, Tiracol Fort etc. in Goa.
