Tiracol fort in Goa

by umakant Mishra

Tiracol Fort is the extreme north of Goa beyond which Goa ends and Maharastra starts. From keri beach you have to cross Tiracol river by a ferry. Ferry is run by the government and is free of cost. You can carry vehicles through the ferry. You have to go about 2 kms on the Tiracol side to reach Tiracol fort. There is Chapel of our Lady of Carmin on the way to the fort. There is no auto taxi or other transportation available. If you have already taken your vehicle through ferry you can go otherwise you have to walk. However, visiting Tiracol fort was frustrating. There is nothing to see in Tiracol fort. There is only a church inside. Other parts are occupied by a hotel. You can only take food in the hotel at high cost, nothing else.
