Garden snail X-Ray
An A-Ray of an empty snail shell found in my back garden this winter's afternoon. This is my first X-Ray of something from the natural world (unless you count a couple of uninspiring tests with an oven-ready chicken).
This image is a stack of 8, to reduce noise. As the images are essentially identical, apart from the noise, there wasn't any advantage in using a heavyweight program like Autostakkert! so I just averaged the images in Paint Shop Pro.
Image made with a heavily modified Scanmax 20 X-Ray scanner, Kodak Lanex Fine screen and a Nikon D3100.
No snails were harmed in the production of this image, although a huge number of electrons were seriously inconvenienced.
Comments are welcome.
