A Tender Moment

Tuesday I spent the morning up in the mountains. The goal was to find some fawns and maybe a bear cub or two. While I wasn't lucky enough to locate any cubs (this time), I was fortunate enough to find a few fawns. I have a number of shots to share, but I think this is maybe my favorite from the bunch. Seeing this newborn fawn, likely only a few hours old at this point, sharing this tender moment with its mother, was just something else. Between (very) short naps, the fawn (and its twin, who was just out of frame) would wobble to their feet, wander around a small area near their mother, and then quickly rush back to her side, usually trying to nuzzle up against her. Curious as they are, they also spent plenty of time sniffing and eyeing up anything within their reach...even something as simple as a long blade of grass. Pure innocence seeing their brand new world for the first time.
