+2 in the comments, the second shot makes me laugh so hard!
Can you tell I'm liking the whole backlight/flare thing lately? :P
So this is Kasper and he lent his house to us for the photo shoot with Tyshan on Tuesday night. Of course after I offered to take some portraits of him after we finished up inside, so we headed down the block and setup a few lights in front of a roundabout...it was 11p.m by this time and cars were still driving past us which stalled shooting and focusing in the dark with the 5d II is near impossible and when I turned the modeling light on the ab, the Vagabond started beeping non stop, so I couldn't use it. One car actually drove past us, proceeded to stop and this older woman complained that we had taken a picture of her and her car?? But I reassured her I most definitely did not and she just scowled at me and drove off. It's fun how much attention you draw shooting outside since it's not something people see everyday and each car that passed by slowed down to see what was going on :P
I wanted to try a 2 light setup for this (seeing as I always tend to use one) and thought the rim light/ flare look would work out here with a nice gel on it, so I put my Cactus v5 on the 580 ex II behind Kasper (I only have a 1 set of cactus') and luckily the ab's have an optical slave that goes off when it sees another light, so when the 580 went off, it triggered the ab for me without needing another Cactus :)
I finally decided to sell my 5d mk1 to a member in our photography club at school and I'll be finally getting my own 5d II very soon since used prices are awesome!
