365.2.10 - Not For the Faint of Math

I am determined to make EZ's hybrid sweater for The Boy. After watching one friend (the friend who got me all excited about this pattern, mind you) BAIL after two troublesome attempts and another knitter have a blog post about a stumper... let's just say I was shaking in my Chucks.

Last night I sat down with the pattern, read the blog post (Thank you S-t-e-v-en!), read the pattern again, and somehow I think it clicked.

Today I checked my gauge, took measurements of my "sample" because measuring a toddler is a futile effort, and got to work on my calculations. I can totally, absolutely see how and why people get fouled up.

EZ was a genius. Some people just get it and she did in spades. She was also very comfortable with math that can send folks running for the hills. Right now I am exceptionally thankful for Dr. Sell, Dr. Poston, and especially Dr. Albrecht who helped turn the "fear of math" I had from the 6th grade until well into college into "can do math" with their great research statistics mentoring.

Keep your calculus and dif eq, give me statistics and more knitting patterns!
