The Thar, also known as Great Indian Desert, covers a large area of Rajasthan State, as well as part of Gujarat and Eastern Pakistan. This unhospitable region receives very low precipitation (most of it during the Monsoon season from July to Septembers) and registers extreme temperatures that range from near freezing to 50º.
