Traditional Swedish hat

For Skuddevut www.flickr.com/photos/effyblog/3656967268/in/photostream/

From the book "Nya enkla kläder för barn och vuxna" by Rosemarie von Zitzewitz. I have a German edition. It says:

The hat was an important piece of the baby clothes in former times. Only though this hat it was possible to know if you had a girl or boy infront of you. Many pregnant women took this so seriously that they made two hats to be on the safe side. The difference was clear: The girls hat had a "toungue" and two side parts, whereas the boys hat was made of triangles (mostly 6 pieces)....

Scroll down a bit and you see two children in the hats: hem.bredband.net/annbet/Minis/Dolls/index_swe.htm
