2012 316/366 Pay it forward...
A terrible shot, but the only one I took yesterday. Besides, I wanted to share the story. Since chemo, I am oxygen dependent 24/7. With portable O2 tanks I am generally able to do normal daily activities. I do, however have a difficult time walking more than a few hundred yards without getting short of breath.
Because I am considered ambulatory, my insurance would not cover a power chair. I wanted one in order to be able to attend events my grandkids are in, to go on wheel chair accessible trails, and any other activities that require walking long distances (for me).
I went to join the senior center the other day and there were a couple of these sitting in the lobby. I assumed they were for use in the center, I commented to the lady there that I had wanted one--just making conversation. She replied, "You can have one, just take it." I was stunned, to say the least. Turns out the chairs had been donated and the center in turn, gave them to people that needed them! This chair is like new--they run about $5500.
So, it is mine! I just need to get a lift for my car and I will be good to go.
I try to live by the "pay it forward" philosophy. So, I will pay it forward whenever the opportunity arises.
