So I finally decided to buy some ND filters. That was in fact some time ago and life and the weather conspired against me to provide neither the time or the light. However a snowy Saturday morning found me schlepping over the broken brick and nails of Rotherhithe beach.
[ D5000 and Nikkor 10-24 and new 10 stop ND, a 3 stop ND and a 2 stop grad, as well as an ancient Bilora tripod - a product of West Germany and built like a tank tasked with keeping out the Soviet menace - and good god it was nice to be shooting a proper camera, I love my iPhone as a camera but there is a point when marshmallows won't do and you need some gritty fibre. ]
Anyway - lots coming up so we'll start with this taster of the new direction (or flickr cliché if you must). I'm going to try to be urban with it.
Good stuff getting in close with the ultra wide lens - it seemed to really suffer from diffraction beyond about f/11 and stacking filters vignetted at 10mm. No matter - I don't believe in mindless f/22 anyway and what's 1mm between friends.
This one 30s at f/9 at 24mm, ISO200 with ND1000 10 stop filter with the 2 stop grad stacked on top angled across the river. The sun was coming up over Rotherhithe with deep blue skies and bright glare from Wapping on the other bank.
