The adventure continues... Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), Han Solo (Harrison Ford), Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) and Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew) face attack by the Imperial forces and its AT-AT walkers on the ice planet Hoth. The Rebels are brutally overpowered by the Empire. While Han and Leia escape in the Millennium Falcon, Luke travels to Dagobah in search of Yoda, a diminutive yet wise Jedi master. Luke begins Jedi training with Yoda (Frank Oz), while his friends are pursued across the galaxy by Darth Vader (David Prowse) and bounty hunter Boba Fett (Jeremy Bulloch). Only with the Jedi Master's help will Luke survive when the Dark Side of the Force beckons him into the ultimate duel with Darth Vader.
The Empire Strikes Back(Irvin Kershner, 1980) later retitled Star Wars Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back, is a dark and serious sequel to the original Star Wars (George Lucas, 1977), or Star Wars Episode IV - A New Hope . Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), Han Solo (Harrison Ford), Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) and Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew) all return and their characters are now more experienced and bonded. New characters are Yoda, the Jedi master who helps Luke prepare for his showdown with Darth Vader, and Lando Calrissian, Han's old gambling and smuggling buddy played by Billy Dee Williams. The special effects were stunning at the time of the film's release, the action is spellbinding and the sets are still highly imaginative. John Williams's score is also outstanding, epic and monumental. The conclusion of the film, with a lightsaber duel between Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker, is one of the most suspenseful and dramatic scenes in the entire Star Wars saga.
