Non place: bus station 1
In his book Non-Places: Introduction to an Anthropology of Supermodernity (1995), Marc Augé launched the term "non-place", referring to places of transience; places without enough significance to be regarded as "places". See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marc_Aug%c3%a9 The bus station of Uden, county [provincie] of Noord-Brabant, Netherlands, is such a non-place. Uden is not an exception in having ugly, non-descript locations - this bus took me to the train station of Oss, Noord-Brabant, an equal ugly, empty non-place. Noord-Brabant is famous for its 'gezelligheid' (untranslatable, a bit like cozyness/togetherness), but it possesses many locations without identity, without a soul.
