Henny Porten in Die Geier-Wally

German postcard by Ross Verlag, no. 646/6. Henny Porten in Die Geyer-Wally/Die Geier-Wally (E.A. Dupont, 1921), based on the novel by Wilhelmine von Hillern. HPF [Henny Porten Film]. Sets were by Paul Leni. Despite the fact that drama and romance dominate, the film has some witty scenes, sich as the one in which Wally rejects the mariage proposal by farmer Rosenbauer senior (Wilhelm Diegelmann) and his son (Gerd Fricke).

Farmer daughter Wally saves Bären-Joseph [Bear-Joseph] from a difficult situation in a nest of vultures [Geier in German], earning her the name of Geier-Wally. She falls in love with him, but her father wants her to marry Vincenz. Moreover, Joseph seems to have a secret lover. Wally is outraged when learning about this and Vincenz even wants to kill him, but it turns out the 'lover' is Joseph's daughter, born out of wedlock. Wally and Joseph can still marry.
