In 1956 the KMDA (Royal Zoological Society of Antwerp) bought the Planckendael estate, as an extension for Antwerp Zoo. Since 1985 Planckendael (Website in Dutch & French only) is restructured and is now a landscape zoo, with large enclosures with a variety of animals
