This is a 73 shot panorama of the setting moon and Milky Way above Window Rock, a rocky island just off shore at Green Head, 3 hours north of Perth in Western Australia.
I have had this shot in mind for years but conditions have never aligned until last season. The natural window basically looks directly west, so it's also a popular spot for people to take photos of the setting sun as it peaks through the window. I took the foreground shots as the moon had almost set below the horizon then took all the sky shots afterwards to minimise the impact of the moon's ambient light. The island is home to hundreds of seagulls and the odd Osprey who weren't too happy to be woken up by my bright torch!
