Stand With Jono, Supreme Court Sydney
Jonathan Moylan entered a plea of not guilty at the Supreme Court in Sydney on Friday 1 November 2013.
Moylan's trial is set to commence on June 30 2014 and is expected to last three weeks.
The ongoing case was moved from the Downing Centre Local Court to the Supreme Court on the request of the prosecutor.
Moylan was joined by family, friends, and supporters including Rick Laird whose Maules Creek farm is threatened by Whitehaven's proposed new coal mine.
***
In January this year, Moylan sent a press release on ANZ letterhead to the ASX stating that the bank would withdraw financial support from Whitehaven’s Maules Creek open cut coal mine on ethical grounds.
Moylan is charged under section 1041E of the Corporations Act, pertaining to the making of false or misleading statements. He is the first individual to be charged under that section of the Act.
