Memories - Zane & mom
This photo was taken at my grandfather's farm. It was one of my favourite places to be.
My mother is one of those strong, motivated women that "do it all". She is 25 in this picture, and by 30 she has been working for a decade as a nurse, farmed, is a solid friend, and is busy raising 5 children under 6 years.
My mom, Bonny takes time to enjoy being with us. She has travelled many continents and miles to see her children as adults. She writes letters and takes time to connect. I recall her saying, "I am your mom, I don't need to be your best friend, " and "... I am not going to put up with shit". I've only seen her cry once, but I know that the cancer patients she works with every day impact her deeply.
A story I love best about her is a secret adventure that she had with a hospital patient who had no family. She took a risk to help her, and I know that she has done that many times without ever saying a word about it to anyone. Mom lost her mother when she was 19 and still cannot speak about it. I wonder how the Unravelling experience would be for her...
