Odd flowers of Green False Hellebore (Veratrum viride, Liliaceae)
These are odd green flowers of Green False Hellebore aka False Hellebore (Veratrum viride) in the Liliaceae plant family - maybe moved to the Melanthiaceae. They are said to be quite toxic, but who would want to eat green flowers? I got this photo in the high meadows near Twin Lakes in Oregon, about 5,000 feet elevation. (Twin Lakes, North Umpqua River, Oregon, 6 August 2012)
