Assassin Bug on a Black Sage seed whorl
Here is a Assassin Bug (Reduviidae) on an old seed whorl of native Black Sage (Salvia mellifera, Lamiaceae) in the woods today. I believe it is species Pselliopus spinicollis in the subfamily Harpactorinae. This little predator is quite small, less than 1/2 inch long. (San Marcos Pass, 11 October 2025)
