Katydid in an leaf of a Wild Blackberry
I found this adult Katydid (Tettigoniidae) in an leaf of a Wild Blackberry (Rubus ursinus, Rosaceae) in the woods today. It's a female with a visible ovipositor that you can see at the end of her abdomen about midway along her wings. I believe this is one of the Bush Katydids in the genus Scudderia - probably the Mexican Bush Katydid (Scudderia mexicana)? The adults of seem to be much less common than the nymphs.
