Bembecine Sand Wasp on mint flowers with "third eye"

Here is a striking Bembecine Sand Wasp (genus Steniolia, Bembicini, Apoidea, Hymenoptera) working non-native mint flowers in the garden this morning. Yep, they have remarkable goggle-like eyes - but what gives with that amazing "third eye" between its two real eyes - the mark of the Illuminati?? Yep, it's real, see this photo.
