Syrphid Flower Fly (Syrphidae, Diptera) on mint flowers - maybe genus Syritta or Tropidia
This is an interesting little Syrphid Flower Fly (family Syrphidae, order Diptera) on flowers in the mint patch of the garden. If you look close, you can see that its lapping blue pollen from a stamen. I believe the little fly with the Popeye-like enlarged femurs is genus Syritta or Tropidia in the subfamily Eristalinae.
