Large bottlecap-size Cat-Faced Spider (Araneus gemmoides, Araneidae) in the woods
This is a large bottlecap-size Cat-Faced Spider (Araneus gemmoides) in the family Araneidaewith a few raindrops. This is the same spider I posted the other side of in this photo. You can see a hint of the cat face on her abdomen. How delicately she hangs from her web with those tiny claws! I wonder whose disconnected leg that is on the upper-right? She rearranged her web a bit, and I can now get behind it. But a moment after I got this photo, the rain and wind kicked up, so it marked the end of my short photo day.
