Small caps of the Alpine Jelly Cone aka Poor Man's Gumdrops (Guepiniopsis alpinus) mushroom in the Oregon woods
I think these may be the small caps of the Alpine Jelly Cone aka Poor Man's Gumdrops (Guepiniopsis alpinus) mushroom growing on a fallen conifer branch in the Oregon woods. I had to squint to see if the caps are full or empty! (They appear to be mostly empty.) The little caps really do feel like gumdrop candy. Compare this photo from last year when there were more of them. They are larger and have more of a stem than Yellow Fairy Cups aka Lemon Discos (Bisporella citrina or kin) in the Helotiaceae, compare this photo. (Near Susan Creek, North Umpqua River, Oregon, 3 December 2013)
