M. Jeannot

In 1896 when the Abbé Lemire created them, the worker's gardens where intended to struggle against poverty, by complementing the resources available to the people with this small amount of free food.

Here in Ivry sur Seine, near Paris, M. Jeannot is totally aware that it was also a way to take the workers away from the bistros (the pubs)...

His eyes become animated when he tells me the story of this unusual place...

Nowadays the gardens are a little bit deserted by the people who prefer to drive far away to rest during the week ends.

Et M. Jeannot de conclure, "Regarde, .. écoute, ... (blanc )..., c'est calme ici..on est bien!"
