R1481. 63363 at Blaydon. May, 1964.
1964/05.R1481. Does anybody recognize this spot?, I asked. The loco is ex N.E.R. Q6 0-8-0 63363 and it was taken in May, 1964. It has now been identified by several people as Blaydon (of races fame) on the Newcastle to Carlisle line, looking in a westerly direction.

It sits in the V of the junction of the line from Dunston and the line from Newcastle (behind the box) via the Scotswood bridge. Blaydon shed is about 400 yds along the Chain Bridge Road which the Q6 is crossing. Blaydon station platform just visible beyond the box. A United bus to Newcastle awaits its turn. The Crossing gates have not yet been replaced. I spent very many hours at this spot from 1943-50. How I wish that I had a camera then!” Thanks Arthur.
