RD18130. Niesenbahn.
RD18130. The metre gauge Niesenbahn funicular railway was opened in 1910 and it runs from the village of Mülenen to the summit of the Niesen, a 7,749 ft / 2,362 m high mountain peak in the Bernese Alps.
The lower station at Mülenen is close to the main line station on the Bern-Lötschberg-Simplon-Bahn (BLS) and the line is in two sections so passengers have to change from one car to another at Schwandegg, the halfway point.
This is the halfway point at Schwandegg and the car in the shot is one that works the lower section.
