D20353. P.S. LA SUISSE.
D20353. With The Alps as a backdrop, the P.S. LA SUISSE departs from Vevey on lac Léman (Lake Geneva) in western Switzerland.
She was built by Sulzer Brother in Winterthur in 1910, originally as a coal burner, but converted to an oil burner in 1960. She was laid up in 1968 and there was a possibility that she might have been converted to diesel power.
Fortunately, this did not happen, and she was returned to service as a paddle steamer looking very much ass she did in 1910. LA SUISSE is now the flagship of the fleet to be seen sailing on lac Léman between Switzerland and France.
