R1505. Chaldron Wagon at Seaham Harbour. May, 1964.

R1505. The National Coal Board once had extensive private railway systems in the North East of England and much coal was exported from Seaham Harbour on the coast of Co. Durham.

This ancient relic is one of early Chaldron Wagons that used to be used to transport the coal from the mines to the docks in the very early days of railways and tramways.
