R4374. Class 11 'Gracie' at De Aar. 3rd September,1972.
R4374. Nicely posed with the rods down, Class 11 2-8-2 No.938 at De Aar Motive Power Depot. The Class 11s were built by the North British Locomotive company in 1904 but, unlike many other early classes, they were not rebuilt with standard boilers and remained as built throughout their lives.
This one is nicely presented and bears the unofficial name ‘Gracie’; clearly she is one of the driver’s pet engine.
