NCB No 41 and 82 Derwenthaugh Shed 1971
Stephenson Long Boiler 0-6-0PT No 41 Kitson built in 1893 initially for use by the former Consett Iron Ore company before transfer to NCB Derwenthaugh loco shed Swalwell. At the time was the oldest NCB locomotive in the UK It was saved and eventually restored to working order and can be seen at North Tyneside Steam railway. Number 82s former life was as the main loco for pushing loaded coal wagons up onto the Staithes where the contents were loaded into waiting ships bound for River Thames power stations
