Hackberry Route 66
On my way home from Flagstaff I ventured right off I-40 to Crookton and took the scenic drive along what's left of America's Mother Road during the sunset. At night when the people are gone, and the loneliness of darkness sets in these relics seem to come to life. In reality not, but that's the way my camera sees it.
Anyway, the drive along Route 66 is a much more relaxing drive than the interstate 40. Speed limit is up to 65 and not many other vehicles. On this night there were a lot of head on traffic going East on the route. Perhaps the "Road Closed to Flagstaff" sign was referring to Interstate 40. The last time I took this route, there was about one car every 5 to 8 miles.
There are many small towns still left along the Route 66. These relics of the era are amazing to see.
Beware of Dog.
