Basilica Cistern, Istanbul
The Basilica Cistern is a giant ancient cistern under the city of Istanbul, close to the Hagia Sophia. It was built in the 6th century and has the capacity to store 100000 tons of water. The ceiling is supported by 336 marble columns, each 9 metres (30 ft) high, spread out over 10000 square meters. Due to a combination of a dodgy, borrowed tripod and difficulty to position it I am not totally happy with the composition, but it should still give you an idea of the place.
