Moon over Peggy's Cove

Highest Position - Explore #53 | Sept. 30, 2008 - Thank you all so very much! :^)

~ Peggy's Cove, Nova Scotia, Canada ~

I know, I know... way too many Atlantic Canada scenes lately! Sorry but I've been shooting them all summer and have been kinda slow uploading them. I will try to space them out a little bit but I'll warn you up front I have a ton of photos from this area! LOL

Anyway... about this photo; I know it looks like the sun behind the lighthouse but it is actually the moon. The sun had already set but there was still a little bit of light left in the sky when I took this and wanted a long exposure to give the waves that misty cloud look. What I didn't expect was that the moon would end up looking like the sun, I kinda liked it so left it that way. I did a shot where I exposed for the moon itself and was going to merge the shots but decided to leave it this way instead. The light cast by the moon on the water I hadn't noticed when I was there either. I like experimenting with different exposures at night, it always a surprise how different settings can make such a huge difference in the shot.
