Great horned owl seeking shelter from the wind
With some spring thunderstorms moving through, I wasn't sure what I would get on a visit to one of my local great horned owl nests. The wind did have the little ones hunkered down, for the most part. One had fledged the night before and was in a tree across the trail. The adult female rode the wind as best she could and eventually gave up and moved to a pine tree for shelter. Taken in Thornton, Colorado.
