“The African American Cultural Center Est.1958 by Malcolm W. Erni: is looking to promote its diverse programs cultivated to enrich the community through arts, dance, literature, education, visual arts and MORE. With programs such as Kakilambe Dance + Drum Company. Kakilambe is an early addition to the heart of the center, rooted in traditional Yoruba dance technique branching out to new age styles such as Afro Beat and MORE. It is one of the first African Dance Company’s in the city of Buffalo. The AACC is also home to the Paul Robeson Theatre. It is the oldest African theatre in WNY. Its currently in its 54th season with its Debut show ‘Facing Our Truths’ a segment of 10 minute plays that discuss race, prejudice and violence that terrors and haunts the black community with inclusion of the life of Trayvon Martin. The name is given after the late Paul Robeson, an African American bass baritone concert artist, stage and film actor, athlete, and activist who became famous both for his cultural accomplishments and for his political stances.
