THE MISS BUFFALO SCHOLARSHIP ORGANIZATION CROWNS TWO TITLEHOLDERS

Buffalo - Niagara Falls, NY – In a surprise move, the last minute of the Miss Buffalo Scholarship Competition which was held at the Riveria Theater in North Tonawanda, Sunday Mar. 5, two girls were crowned as titleholders which means that the Buffalo-Niagara Region will be sending two women to the Miss New York State Competition and hopefully, from there on to the Miss America Competition. Emily Stawicki , 21, of Buffalo, NY was crowned Miss Buffalo, and Bridgette Avery of Rochester, NY was crowned Miss Niagara.

“The Competition was stiff this year with ten wonderful girls competing. The judges had a tough job picking the winners, because all of the girls were stellar,” says Board President Tim Boylan.

“When I was announced as the first runner up, I was so very happy! But, when Tim Boylan came on stage with an envelope and said, ‘Wait! There’s been a change…”, my heart started racing as I thought, ‘oh my gosh. I didn’t really win.’ But when they announced that I was an actual titleholder, I started to cry tears of joy. It was the most incredible moment of my life. I promise to make them proud,” says Bridgette Avery.

The illustrious group of judges this year comprised of David Granville, Lex Luger, LaQuita Rucker, Gwen MacQuillar, Daniel Doctor, Dr. Lance Formolo, Kristen Thomas, MD.

“It is truly an honor to be crowned Miss Buffalo! It is something that I have wanted for some time and now it is a reality. To have a sister titleholder to do appearances with throughout the year and to go to the Miss NYS pageant with, is going to be amazing. I look forward to serving, “Says Emma Lee Stawicki.
