Down on the BoardWalk!
Like so many of my photos, this one has a story that goes along with it that I just felt compelled to share.
On this particular evening, Disney’s Hollywood Studios closed at the far-too-early hour of 9 pm (and no other parks were open later). Of course, we were in no way ready to call it a night at this early-hour, so we headed to the Swan & Dolphin to take photos (I’ve posted one of these already). Then, we headed to BoardWalk to take photos. Then, we headed to the Yacht and Beach Club to take photos. Then, we headed to Downtown Disney…because we had to in order to catch a bus back to Caribbean Beach. We finally arrived back there a bit after 1 am. Not a bad night after such an early end-time for the parks, right?
Anyway, the actual story is what happened at BoardWalk outside of Jellyrolls as I was setting up for this shot. There were a lot of incredibly inebriated people around, including this dude with a tie-dyed shirt on, basically passed out on the bench here. Well, after I had taken a couple of shots, the sleeping bear awoke from his slumber, and was quite pleased that I was photographing him. Until he determined that I wasn’t trying to take his photo, at which time he became quite disappointed. This guy was hilarious, and very entertaining. So Sarah, who had really taken a liking to Instragram during the course of our trip, told him that she would take his picture. So, he stood up, stumbled towards her, dropped to a knee, and posed like some sort of intoxicated T-Rex (for lack of a better description). Sarah captured this on Instragram, and you can (and should) view that photo here: inkstagram.com/#/photos/246732321_8702839 Even though it was just a simple shot with an iPhone, it’s one of my favorite photos from the trip, and I can’t help but laugh every time I see it. Plus, it served the double purpose of removing the passed out man from the bench in my shot, which I considered to be a plus.
Maybe it’s one of those, “you had to be there” stories, but it cracks me up.
