The One and Only
Going through my photo files, I came across this shot of a cow moose. In several trips to Yellowstone National Park over the years, she is the only moose we've ever seen there.
It is estimated that the moose population in Yellowstone has decreased to less than 200 from a more robust population of around 1,000 thirty years ago. The decline is due to loss of old growth forests surrounding the park, hunting outside the park, burning of habitat, and predators.
Happy Earth Day everyone! On this occasion, I especially appreciate all my wonderful nature photographer friends.
