Bull Moose at Sunset
We were in Denali National Park toward the end of a very long day when I spotted this big bull well hidden in some thick spruce trees, with only a bit of his antlers showing. I first saw him about 15 minutes before this shot was taken which was also about 20 minutes before sunset. There was a cow in the open about 30 or 40 yards from him and he kept staring right at her. But the good light was fading quickly and he seemed very content to stay in those spruce trees. I was getting a bit desperate, thinking that the shot I was hoping for wasn't going to happen. Then the cow let out that mournful call they make and, with only about 5 minutes of sun left, he slowly moved into the open. Click!
