New bells for St. Thomas in Leipzig
The new bells for St Thomas' Church are finally ready! The pictures show the bells in sequence from the front and back. Four new bells complement the existing bells of St Thomas' Church in the upper registers. The largest of these new bells rings daily at noon (prayer bell). The next smaller one rings for the sacrament (baptism and communion). The third bell rings every Friday for a motet with the St. Thomas Boys Choir (motet bell) and the small bell rings in the morning and evening and for the service. The bells are not inaugurated and rung for the first time until Reformation Day in October.
