National Theatre (Prague)

The National Theater opened for the first time in 1881 in honor of Archduke Rodolf's visit. It was inaugurated with the opera by Smetana Libuše, composed in 1872.

There was a fire in August 1881, which was seen as a national disaster. The architect Josef Zítek gave way to his student architect Josef Schulz, who was in charge of working on reconstruction. This historical building was reopened in November 1883.

Today you can see there Opera, Drama and Ballet performances.

The tram 22 is the most used to move around the center, because it is the one that passes through most monuments and places of interest in the Czech capital, including the Prague Castle or the Malá Strana neighborhood.
