The Great Highway

The Great Highway, otherwise known as The Great 35MPH Highway. This photo actually covers almost 4 miles from bottom to top of frame. This is what you shoot when the usual San Francisco marine cloud layer comes out to obscure the full moon.

I actually worked for a while to get this shot, since traffic was really lite that night. On a whim I tried my 10-stop ND filter for 120 seconds at ISO6400, and of course that worked great, except for the horrible quality of the photo. :P

This photo was shot from Sutro Heights Park, which is a huge park area bordered by this road as it runs up hill past the Cliff House and Seal Rocks and heads east (the Great Highway runs north-south). Down hill (north) and across the road is the ruins of the Sutro Baths which cost over $1 million in 1896 dollars and tragically no longer exists. Sutro Heights Park once held Adolph Sutro's San Francisco mansion, and also tragically no longer remains except for the foundation.
