Here is a shot which I think showcase how much more colour you can find if you just get close enough. If you ask a bunch of people what colour a woolly burdock (Arctium tomentosum) is, I suspect basially all of them would say it is a very light grey.
And yet, when you get in close like on this one with a female banded thintail (Meliscaeva cinctella) on top of it, the colours are actually really intense.
The fact that pollinating insects seem to love them is of course a nice bonus.
