Philippinean, Pt. 2 - _TNY_4564

At first glance, most would say this fur-clad beauty at the Haga Ocean butterfly house in Solna Sweden, is an atlas moth (Attacus atlas) - but it isn't.

Instead, it's the closely related Lorquin's cobra moth (Attacus lorquinii) which is endemic to the Philippines.

The way to tell if it is A atlas or A. lorquinii is to look at the top pair of silver triangles. If there are small white markings above them, then it is atlas and if it doesn't have them like on this one, then it's lorquinii.
